Privacy policy — Can Eat, Will Eat
Last updated: 20 April 2026
Can Eat, Will Eat is made by Shamalama (Vanessa Latchem-Smith, sole trader, United Kingdom). This is a short privacy policy because the app collects almost nothing.
What the app stores
Everything you enter in the app — your name, texture preferences, allergies, intolerances, safe foods, meals you’ve added, and the record of meal ideas you’ve said yes, not today, or never to — is stored only on your device, using your operating system’s local storage.
What the app sends
Nothing. The app does not connect to any server we run. It does not transmit your preferences, choices, or any other information off your device.
Third parties
The app does not integrate analytics, advertising, or third-party tracking. We do not share data because we do not receive any.
Deleting the app
The data held by the app lives in the app’s local storage on your device. When you uninstall the app, your device removes that storage and the data goes with it. We do not hold a backup.
Children
The app is intended for adults. It does not knowingly collect data from anyone — including children — because it does not collect data at all.
Crash diagnostics
The current version of the app does not send crash reports. If at some future point we add a crash reporter (such as Sentry), we will update this policy first. Any such reports would contain only technical details about the crash — device model, operating system version, a stack trace — not your personal preferences or meal data.
Your rights
Because we do not hold any personal data about you, UK GDPR rights such as access, correction, and deletion do not arise in the usual sense. You already have full control, because the data is only on your device.

Changes
If this policy changes, the Last updated date at the top will be revised and any material change will be noted in an app update.
